Who can apply?
You are eligible for this budget if:
- you can demonstrate ties with the Dutch labour market, and
- you cannot apply for other forms of financing for education, such as student finance
You can apply if:
- you have not applied for the STAP Budget in the current calendar year
- you are over 18 years of age
- you do not receive old age pension (AOW)
- you or your (registered) partner have the Dutch nationality, or the nationality of another EU country
- you are covered by social security
In 2023 there are 5 application rounds (in Dutch), the next opens on 1 of May 2023, 10.00 hours. Every 2 months a new application round opens ( 3 July, 4 September, and 1 November 2023).

How to Apply for the STAP Budget
Applying for the STAP budget is easy! Follow these step-by-step instructions:
- Make sure you meet the STAP budget conditions (in Dutch).
- Register for our courses on the Academy for Investors website.
- Make sure your course or training session is included on the STAP course list (in Dutch).
- Apply for the STAP budget on the Apply for the STAP budget page (in Dutch).
- Provide proof that you have registered (‘STAP-aanmeldingsbewijs’) with Academy for Investors. You can upload a .jpg, .png, or a PDF file.
- Applications must be submitted at least 4 weeks before your course starts. We will pay your education provider (Academy for Investors) as soon as your application has been approved.
Once inside you can choose our courses so you can take advantage of the free online investing courses.
